3 in 5 would pay more for eco-friendly cleaning products
A survey has revealed 3 in 5 people (59%) are willing to pay more for cleaning products if they knew they were better for the environment.
The research carried out by Bunzl Cleaning and Hygiene Supplies (Bunzl CHS), a supplier of cleaning, janitorial and hygiene products, discovered perceptions towards “going green” in the workplace as a whole.
Attitudes look positive with 41% of those who took part in the survey believing that their workplace is already “moderately” environmentally friendly. This sets future prospects for these businesses in good stead; over two-fifths (44%) of respondents stated that it’s ‘somewhat important’ to do business with environmentally-conscious companies.
Despite being relatively new to the market, consumer awareness of environmentally friendly cleaning products is apparent, with one quarter of respondents revealing they have used them and a further 15% claiming to use them all the time.
Effectiveness of environmentally-friendly cleaning was also addressed. When compared to ‘traditional’ products; nearly a third of people (31%) believed they are more effective and 3 in 5 people, (59%) were willing to put their money where their mouth is and spend more on environmentally friendly cleaning products.
The survey was conducted online in June 2015 among a sample of UK adult professionals.
